Why is Oregon's IFTA rate $0.0000?

Oregon is the IFTA outlier: it taxes intrastate trucking by weight and miles travelled (a weight-mile tax) instead of fuel gallons, so the IFTA diesel rate is locked at $0.0000/gal. If you operate in Oregon you still file IFTA for tracking purposes, but the Oregon line will always be zero. Your Oregon weight-mile tax is filed separately with the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Common Oregon IFTA filing questions

• Do I file IFTA in Oregon if my home base is here? If your IFTA base jurisdiction is Oregon, you file your quarterly return with the Oregon Department of Revenue (or equivalent). Your filing covers every IFTA jurisdiction you ran in, not just Oregon.
• What if I only drove a few miles through Oregon? Every IFTA mile counts, even if you only crossed the state. Track them on your trip sheet or ELD report — you'll owe (or get refunded) Oregon's share whether you bought fuel here or not.
• What if Oregon fuel is cheaper than the IFTA tax? The IFTA rate above is what you owe per gallon "consumed" in Oregon. The pump price already includes Oregon's state fuel tax — that's what gets credited on your return. If you bought all your fuel in a low-tax state and drove all your miles in Oregon, you'll owe the full Oregon rate on those gallons at filing time.

IFTA returns are due quarterly across all 48 contiguous U.S. states, including Oregon:
