FMCSA Revokes 5 More ELDs (Aug 6, 2026): Full List

FMCSA pulled another batch of electronic logging devices off its registered list on August 6, 2026 — five devices revoked in one notice. If any truck in your fleet runs one of them, you have until October 6, 2026 to be on a compliant device, and FMCSA's instruction is to stop logging on the revoked one immediately, not on the deadline.

Here is the complete list exactly as FMCSA published it, what each entry means, and the steps to take this week.

FMCSA removed these devices because the providers failed to meet the minimum requirements in 49 CFR Part 395, Subpart B, Appendix A — the technical spec every registered ELD self-certifies against.

All five now appear on FMCSA's Revoked Devices list at eld.fmcsa.dot.gov.

Check the ELD Identifier, not just the name. The identifier — MRS255, HRS169, HIG385, TRS263, SPARK6 — is the unambiguous field. It shows on the device registration and inside the app itself, and it's what an inspector will compare against the list at roadside. Names get reused and rebranded; identifiers don't.

Is my device one of these? Device-by-device

MOONLIGHT ELD (model MRS, identifier MRS255, provider UZB2USA INC) — revoked August 6, 2026. Replacement deadline October 6, 2026.

HGRS ELD (model HGR, identifier HRS169, provider HGRS) — revoked August 6, 2026. Note that HGRS had two devices pulled in this notice, so a "different" HGRS product is not a safe fallback.

HIGHEST ELD (model HIG4ES, identifier HIG385, provider HGRS) — revoked August 6, 2026. Same provider as HGRS ELD above. If you were sold one as an upgrade from the other, both are now off the registered list.

TRUCKFORD ELD (model TRS, identifier TRS263, provider Truckford ELD) — revoked August 6, 2026.

Sparkle ELD (model PT40SIM, identifier SPARK6, provider Spark Technologies Inc.) — revoked August 6, 2026. Worth noting: the July 9 batch included TT ELD 40 (model PT40). Two devices on a PT40 model line have now been pulled inside a month. If you're running anything else built on that platform, verify it on the registered list before you assume it's safe.

Key dates

• August 6, 2026 — the five devices above moved from the Registered list to the Revoked list.
• Now through October 6, 2026 — the transition window. Stop using the revoked device and run paper logs or logging software while you install a compliant replacement.
• October 6, 2026 — the hard deadline. From that date, a driver still using one of these devices is in violation of 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1) — "No record of duty status" — and will be placed out-of-service under the CVSA Out-of-Service Criteria.

FMCSA's instructions to affected carriers are two lines long:

1. Discontinue using the revoked ELDs and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours-of-service data.
2. Replace the revoked ELDs with a compliant ELD from the Registered Devices list before October 6, 2026.

If a provider fixes every deficiency FMCSA identified, the agency can put a device back on the registered list. That does happen — but FMCSA "strongly encourages" carriers to switch now rather than bet the fleet on a vendor cleaning up in time, and so do we. A reinstatement you were counting on that doesn't arrive by October 6 puts your trucks on the shoulder.

Other revocation deadlines still running

The August 6 batch lands on top of enforcement that is already live:

• August 23, 2026 — replacement deadline for TRUCKSTAFF ELD, revoked June 23.
• September 8, 2026 — replacement deadline for the 10 ELDs revoked July 9 (Ontime Logs iosix, LAST MINUTE ELD, Porter ELD, Zee HOS Compliance, EV ELD IOSIX, Light and Travel ELD, PREMIERRIDE LOGS, 2BRO ELD, 305 ELD, TT ELD 40). Full details in our July 9 revoked ELD list.
• October 6, 2026 — the five devices in this notice.
• Already enforceable — the spring batches are past their windows. Drivers using those devices are being placed out-of-service today.

What to do this week

• [ ] Write down the exact device in every truck — ELD name, model number, and identifier. If you can't produce that list from your records right now, that's the first thing to fix, because you'll need it again at the next notice.
• [ ] Cross-check every identifier against the table above and FMCSA's Revoked Devices list at eld.fmcsa.dot.gov.
• [ ] If you're affected, switch drivers to paper logs today. The 60 days is for replacing the device, not for continuing to run it.
• [ ] Export your historical logs while the old unit still powers on. You are required to retain six months of RODS. Getting data off a revoked device after the provider goes quiet ranges from painful to impossible.
• [ ] Verify the replacement is on the Registered list before you pay. Confirm the exact model and identifier on FMCSA's site — not the salesperson's word, not a screenshot they send you.
• [ ] Train on paper before the gap, not during it. Many newer drivers have never filled out a grid log. The §395.8 requirements are identical on paper, and form-and-manner errors during the transition are citable on their own.

FAQ

My ELD is on the August 6 list. Can I keep using it until October 6? No. The 60-day window is for replacing the device. FMCSA says to discontinue use now and switch to paper logs or logging software, then install a compliant ELD before October 6, 2026.

What happens if a driver is caught using one of these after October 6, 2026? The driver is cited under 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1) for having no record of duty status and placed out-of-service per CVSA criteria. The violation also lands on your CSA Hours-of-Service Compliance BASIC, where it affects your score for 24 months.

Both HGRS ELD and HIGHEST ELD were revoked. Can I move to another HGRS product? Not without verifying it independently. Both of the provider's listed devices were pulled in the same notice for the same reason. Check any alternative against the Registered Devices list yourself before committing.

Could these devices come back on the registered list? Possibly. FMCSA reinstates devices when the provider corrects all identified deficiencies. There's no guarantee and no published timeline, so plan the switch as if it won't happen.

I bought the device in good faith from a legitimate-looking vendor. Does that protect me? No. ELD registration is self-certification by the manufacturer, and compliance responsibility sits with the motor carrier. That's the whole reason checking the registered and revoked lists belongs on your quarterly routine.
